Laboratoires Alcon S.A., or Alcon France, was established in 1970 and is home to one of Alcon's major pharmaceutical and contact lens care manufacturing plants. Facilities in France are vast and include sales and marketing offices, a 30,236 square foot distribution center, a state-of-the-art training center serving Europe and a manufacturing plant that occupies 134,000 square feet. Alcon France employs over 500 Alcon employees dedicated to manufacturing and delivering a full range of ophthalmic surgical instruments and devices, pharmaceuticals and consumer vision care products to the French market.
Alcon France takes seriously the company's focus on social responsibility. As such, Alcon France participates in the Tulipe Association organized by the trade union of the pharmaceutical industry, which distributes free medicines to non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The company also participates in medical missions that provide developing countries in Africa eye care medications and intraocular lenses for cataract surgery.
Alcon France's philosophy has always been to put the customer at the center of the organization. Customer service, wet labs and training are focused on customer satisfaction and continual improvement. Annually 200,000 orders are processed, 60,000 calls are handled, and 60 training sessions are organized for the education of more than 600 health professionals. Alcon France continues its focus on customer satisfaction and continues to receive high marks in surveys of its customers each year.
