Cataract Surgery
Cataracts, the leading cause of treatable blindness, create vision cloudiness and develop for a variety of reasons, but most commonly result as part of the aging process. However, they can also be caused by long-term ultraviolet (UV) light exposure, trauma to the eye and as secondary effects of diseases such as diabetes. Cataracts typically require surgical removal and replacement of the eye's lens. INFINITI® Vision System
The INFINITI® Vision System allows physicians to provide patients with customized cataract surgery. The system's OZIL® Torsional Handpiece delivers side-to-side, oscillating ultrasonic movement, enhancing surgeon control during surgery. ACRYSOF® IOLs
With 25 million implants worldwide, ACRYSOF® lenses are the most frequently implanted in the world, as physicians appreciate the long-term clinical results and unmatched stability of the lens. Recent advances to this line of lenses also address other visual disturbances while correcting for cataracts:
For patients with cataracts and presbyopia there is the ACRYSOF® RESTOR® lens, which corrects for both conditions at the same time, eliminating the need for spectacles after surgery in most patients. DISCOVISC® Ophthalmic viscosurgical device is the first cohesive and dispersive viscoelastic to combine higher viscosity cohesives and lower viscosity dispersives in a single syringe to provide superior retention, space maintenance and visual clarity during all key phases of cataract surgery. Additionally, it is easily removed at the end of surgery.

DUOVISC® Viscoelastic system
DUOVISC® Viscoelastic system provides the dispersive benefits of VISCOAT® viscosurgical device and the cohesive benefits of PROVISC® viscosurgical device in one disposable package. The use of VISCOAT® viscoelastic solution in the initial phases of surgery takes advantage of the solution's tissue protection properties. The use of PROVISC® viscoelastic material during the later phases of the surgery takes advantage of the properties that make it better suited for the expansion of the capsular bag and implantation of the intraocular lens following the cataract extraction. The separate syringes enable surgeon personalization of application to achieve optimum surgical control.
