Systane® is an artificial tear that contains a polymer, HP-Guar, which has unique gelling properties for enhanced efficacy. When Systane® is exposed to the eye, it forms a soft gel-like consistency that prolongs protection of the eye's surface by keeping the eye's tear film moist.
Systane® provides relief for most dry eye symptoms including dryness, burning and foreign body sensation.

Airport security regulations currently consider contact lens solutions, saline solution, and rewetting drops as "over-the-counter medications" that can be carried on the plane if they meet the following inspection criteria. All prescription and over-the-counter medications (liquids, gels, and aerosols) including lubricating jelly, eye drops, and saline solution for medical purposes are permitted. You are not limited in the amount or volume of these items you may bring in your carry-on baggage. BUT if the medically necessary items exceed three ounces or are not contained in a one-quart, zip-top plastic bag, you MUST declare to one of the security officers at the checkpoint for further inspection. OPTI-FREE® RepleniSH® is specially designed to recondition silicone hydrogel and soft contact lenses. It contains disinfecting agents compatible with all soft contact lenses.
OPTI-FREE® RepleniSH® represents the latest technology in lens care and is clinically proven to improve contact lens comfort in all wearers and extend lens surface moisture retention up to 14 hours. We anticipate that OPTI-FREE® RepleniSH® will eventually phase out OPTI-FREE® Express®.
OPTI-FREE® RepleniSH® is packaged in 12 oz bottles that are filled with 10 oz of solution. The new technology of the OPTI-FREE® RepleniSH® formulation requires manufacturing to produce a 10 oz fill in a 12 oz bottle.

ICAPS® Plus tablets do not have the time-release feature available in other ICAPS® products. Therefore, breaking these tablets does not impact the effectiveness of these tablets. However, other time-release formulations should not be broken.
The cotton has been removed from all ICAPS® bottles because the ICAPS® vitamins are triple coated so the bottle does not require cotton. The bottle neck has also been shortened, thus reducing the risk of tablets moving around and breaking.
The red color in ICAPS® AREDS was chosen as an esthetically pleasing color that is safe. The red in AREDS is FD&C Red # 40 Lake. This colorant is certified and tested, approved by the FDA, and is found abundantly in food, drug and cosmetic products.
The yellow color in ICAPS® LZ is from riboflavin, vitamin B2. This colorant is certified and tested, and is found abundantly in food, drug and cosmetic products.
ICAPS Original has the same formulation as ICAPS® Plus. ICAPS® TR is no longer available. ICAPS® Plus is a time-release, high-potency antioxidant formula that contains Lutein and Zeaxanthin.

On 6 May 2008, Alcon shareholders approved a dividend of 2.63 Swiss francs per share, for shareholders of record on 12 May 2008. For shareholders who did not elect to receive Swiss francs, the dividend was paid at the US dollar equivalent of US$2.5347 per share. A tax of 35% was withheld and remitted to Swiss tax authorities, for a net payment of US$1.6476 per share.
If you were a registered shareholder on 12 May 2008 (your shares were in the form of a stock certificate), your dividend was mailed to you or paid by direct deposit on 22 May 2008. If your shares were held through a brokerage account, your dividend was sent to your broker on your behalf.

Nestlé acquired Alcon in 1978 and retained 100 percent ownership until March 2002, when the company conducted an initial public offering (IPO) of about 25 percent of Alcon’s shares with Nestlé retaining ownership of the balance with Nestlé retaining ownership of the balance. In July 2008 Nestlé sold about 74 million shares to Novartis AG, which now owns approximately 24.8% of Alcon issued and outstanding shares. Nestlé S.A. remains Alcon's primary shareholder with 52 percent of Alcon's issued capital. Alcon operates with a great deal of independence from the Nestlé organization. Nestlé S.A. and Novartis AG entered into an agreement in April 2008 for Novartis to buy approximately 74 million shares of Alcon stock owned by Nestlé at a price of $143.18. With the completion of the first step transaction in July 2008, Nestlé remains Alcon’s majority shareholder with ownership of about 52 percent and Novartis owns a minority interest at 24.85 percent. The two companies also announced a second phase of the agreement which could allow Novartis to purchase the remaining Nestlé shares and become the majority owner of Alcon, with a stake of approximately 77 percent. The second phase cannot begin until 1 January 2010 and may extend through 31 July 2011. There are no requirements in the agreement for Novartis to acquire the publicly traded shares of Alcon.
